The most prominent attractions in Oxnard, California, revolve around the ocean and our glorious beaches. Mandalay Beach and Oxnard State Beach both face the Channel Islands with a long, wide and lovely stretch of land for strolling or biking. The atmosphere along these sandy strips is ideal for families, and lucky visitors may spot a dolphin swimming near the shoreline. Another recommended beach is Channel Islands Harbor, which offers plenty of water activities for a jam-packed day! You can jet ski, rent boats, shop, and dine here. Don’t miss the Farmer’s Market held every Sunday.

Museum goers will appreciate Oxnard’s diverse collections. The Channel Islands Maritime Museum displays handmade wood models and exquisite paintings of ships. Another cultural venue is the Carnegie Art Museum, which is a sparkling gem hidden in Oxnard. The museum features changing exhibitions of California art and artists. If you’re interested in local history and architecture, take a walk around Heritage Square, where gorgeous old buildings were renovated and repurposed as modern businesses. Look out for signs on many of the buildings, which tell you some tales about each home. To unwind in the evening, join a wine tasting event at Herzog Wine Cellars. You can enjoy a self-guided tour of the production and barrel rooms – before sitting down to sip award-winning cabernet.

Many of our patients travel in from the nearby city of Port Hueneme, south of Oxnard. The port, which is operated jointly by the Oxnard Harbor District and the US Navy, is the only deep water port between Long Beach and San Francisco. This makes it a popular shipping and receiving spot for many resources, such as bananas, pineapples, and cars. Also in Port Hueneme is the West Coast base of the “Seabees”, also known as the Naval Construction Force.
